Couleecap helps people in need with housing, food, transportation, and more. Through our actions we fight poverty, promote self-sufficiency, economic development, social justice, and personal responsibility.

5.22.15 Area Graduates receive John Young Scholarship from Couleecap, Inc.

Westby, Wis. - Four area graduates have been selected to receive the 2015 $200 John Young Scholarship from Couleecap, Inc. One graduating high school senior from each county of Couleecap's service area (Crawford, La Crosse, Monroe, and Vernon) was chosen to receive a scholarship. A total of 48 students in the 4-county service area submitted application forms.

5.20.15 1 in 3 Coulee Region Residents May Have Qualifying Income for 0% Interest Vehicle Loan

Westby, Wis. - According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, one major barrier to employment is a lack of affordable and accessible transportation. Couleecap's Work-N-Wheels program is designed to help those who require transportation to get to and from work and who cannot access traditional loan programs.

5.15.15 May is National Community Action Month

Westby, Wis. - On August 20, 1964 President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act which created a variety of programs, including Community Action Agencies, as part of his War of Poverty.

5.14.15 Program Changes are Coming to the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) in Vernon County

Westby, Wis. - Attention all participants of the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) in Vernon County. Effective June 1, 2015, the Vernon County Department of Human Services will be operating the WHEAP program.
