Free Solar Energy Credits for Eligible Vernon Electric Households

Energize Wisconsin solar power farm stretches across a grassy hillside with autumn trees in the background. In the foreground, a sign reads “Energize Wisconsin: Local Solar Powering Wisconsin” with partnership logos from Vernon Electric, Couleecap, and the Wisconsin Office of Energy Innovation.
A green and white sign reading “A Couleecap Project – Couleecap Energy Services” stands in front of a solar panel installation site. Metal mounting structures are arranged in rows on a grassy field, with homes, trees, and equipment visible in the background under a clear blue sky.

Energize Wisconsin: Local Solar Powering Wisconsin

Couleecap has partnered with Vernon Electric Cooperative and the Wisconsin Office of Energy Innovation to launch Energize Wisconsin—an innovative initiative that provides free access to community solar energy for eligible households.

This program helps reduce electricity costs for income-qualified households who are Vernon Electric members and have high energy burdens. It’s an added benefit within the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) and comes at no additional cost to participants.

What is Energize Wisconsin?

Energize Wisconsin provides monthly utility bill credits powered by solar energy to:

  • Households that currently receive Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance
  • Vernon Electric Cooperative members
  • Homes with high electricity use or high energy burden
  • Why Participate?

The program helps lower electric bills by utilizing clean, locally-generated solar energy. This allows households to reduce their utility costs while supporting sustainable energy practices in their own communities.

Three people wearing sunglasses—two in Couleecap T-shirts—smile in front of a Couleecap-branded van decorated with food imagery. The group appears to be participating in a community event or parade, representing Couleecap’s mission of helping local families.
