Our Work

Building Projects That Strengthen Communities and Create Lasting Impact.

New Ideas and New Energy

Couleecap is proud to support forward-thinking projects that make a lasting difference across our region. From inclusive housing to sustainable energy, our work reflects collaboration, creativity, and commitment to community.

Our work touches lives across Crawford, La Crosse, Monroe, and Vernon counties—building stronger neighborhoods and better futures.

Haven on Main

Haven on Main is a visionary housing initiative from Haven for Special People, a group of parents, educators, and advocates committed to providing safe, affordable housing for adults with special needs.

In partnership with Couleecap and Gerrard Corporation, the group acquired property at 10th and Main Street in La Crosse to develop a 70-unit apartment building. The design prioritizes inclusion, accessibility, and community living.

Prairie Homes

In April 2022, Couleecap and the City of Prairie du Chien broke ground on a new workforce housing development. Located on Brunson Street, this project includes four three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes that were sold to income-eligible families earning up to 80% of the County Median Income.

Energize Wisconsin

Energize Wisconsin is a clean energy initiative that provides free access to community solar benefits for income-qualified residents served by Vernon Electric Cooperative. The project is a partnership between Couleecap, the Public Service Commission’s Office of Energy Innovation, and Vernon Electric Cooperative.

The program reduces utility bills by applying monthly solar energy credits to participating households. This support is offered as a no-cost addition to eligible Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program participants.
