Couleecap Offers Free Events on New Home Energy Rebates
Westby, WI – Couleecap is hosting a series of free, public information sessions to help residents learn how to save on energy bills through new federal Home Energy Rebates.
The first event takes place Tuesday, October 21 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Couleecap’s Technical and Energy Program Development Manager Jake Robertson will explain how the program works and answer questions. Staff will be available afterward with paper applications and one-on-one assistance. Refreshments will be provided.
According to FOCUS ON ENERGY®, “As part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), Wisconsin has been allocated $149 million for Home Energy Rebates. Focus on Energy was chosen by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to deliver IRA Home Energy Rebate Programs.”
Because the program’s income limits are higher than many traditional assistance programs, more households can qualify for significant rebates—up to $10,000 for eligible upgrades. For example, in Vernon County a single-person household can qualify with income up to $53,450, and a family of four up to $76,300. Households above these levels may still qualify for partial rebates.
“The goal of these rebates is to help homes lower their energy use and bills,” said Robertson. “We hope to keep these dollars in our community and help people save energy and money.”
Qualifying projects include improvements such as insulation and air sealing or installation of ENERGY STAR® certified heating, cooling, or water-heating equipment.
Additional free sessions are scheduled:
- Oct. 22nd in La Farge – La Farge Community Center, 5–6 p.m.
- Nov. 10th in Boscobel – Hildebrand Public Library at 10:00 a.m.
